Seems like we are getting a good deal of Florida Male Massage Therapists to adds lisitings to the Male Massage Therapist Directory. All I can say is keep them coming!

Tell your fellow male massage therapists about adding a listing to the directory. Please do not feel by spreading the word that you are increasing your competition. Rather the contrary. You are expanding the network of male therapists and educating the public that there are professional massage therapists out there who just happen to be male. With enough quality listings in the directory, perhaps a consumer of massage services who would only previously utilize the services of a female therapist will give a male massage therapist a try.

If you already have a listing in the MMT Directory and you have your own website, be sure to place a link on your website back to your MaleMassageTherapist.com Directory Listing. It helps us both out!

Now, take a look at the latest listing from Michael Ames of Orlando FL. Michael had a previous listing in the Male Massage Therapist Directory. OK, it was a little wordy, but no problem, at least we got the whole story. Problem was, Michael did not include good contact information and a link to his website.

Now in Michael's updated listing he gives some streamlined background information and a better photo. Additionally, he provides his contact information and a link to his website. Smart moves, Michael!

Lastly, Michael attempts to capture market share with placing is pricing strategy on his listing.

Overall, this is probably a more effective listing to get a potential client to click to his website for more information, (and that is the purpose of having a listing here on MaleMassageTherapist.com)

Feb 2, 2010, Two New Listings to the MMT Directory

Two new listings were just submitted to the Male Massage Therapist Directory. Carwin Byington of Las Vegas Nevada tells us about his practice, A Knead to Unwind , and he leaves his telephone number should you decided you would like to call to schedule a massage appointment.

Additionally, we now have our first male massage therapist from Kansas to submit an listing. Jeffrey Robuck of Topeka Kansas tells us about his massage practice, Massage by Jeff, and gives us his telephone number and email address to set-up an appointment.

If either of these male therapists is in your area, give them a call to set up a massage appintment, then leave a blurb in the comments section as to how they did.

Jan 25, 2010, New Baloney Detection Kit Video on Critical Thinking Page

If you are interested in becoming a Crtical Thinker in the massage therapy profession, here is a great new video I have added to the Critical Thinking page which will help teach you how to avoid the great deal of crap that finds it way into the Massage Therapy profession.

Learn these concepts and it will keep you from falling for bogus CEU courses, massage practice marketing schemes and making a fool out of yourself (and practice) when explaining massage to a potential client or referring physician!

You may feel Critical Thinking is not an important issue, especially in finding new client, but reality is most potential clients are strong critical thinkers and are internally analysing all statements of your claims. Most people who can afford to plop down $70 an hour to lie on your massage table did not get that $70 by believing in the Tooth Fairy to fund their massage habit.

Jan 19, 2010, First Content 2.0 Submission to the Critical Thinking Page

I am a little surprised (and a little disappointed) it had to be a female contributor to make the first submission to the Critical Thinking page I put up a few weeks ago.

While I do not always agree with everything this Poster states, she states the details of her submissions very well, and demonstrates some of the LEFT BRAIN qualities I was hoping that Male Massage Therapists would display, and capitalize upon in thier Content Submissions, especially this one about Critical Thinking.

Because of this, I am willing to give her a little leeway on the submissions in spite of the fact I originally intended this site to be a male-only submission and comment website.

In this Submission, she tells us about a newly found technique she observed being promoted in chiropractic healthcare. She also provides some interesting links about the technique and founder.

Read it all, then critically think your way through the new technique. Is this a technique you would have reason to believe works? Likewise, are the claims to this technique really verifiable? If you got involved with this technique (as a practioner or client), would you feel it is ethical to take someone elses money in exchange for provding this service-Why or Why not?

Dec 20, 2009, Disappointed Gay Therapist Fears Accusations from Women

A recent Content 2.0 submission caught my eye. Here's a gay male massage therapist who now feels like he may be wrongly accused by women clients when he changes his market share to both male and female clients.

The reason I found this interesting is that the long standing belief is that women are fine with gay male massage therapists. (I suppose this is inferred because a gay therapist would not be turned on by seeing a female body--I do not really know).

Regardless, this therapist feels this is an issue. Check out his post and leave a comment. I do not think he has to feel quite this scared, though he obviously does.

Dec 17, 2009, Critical Thinking For Male Massage Therapists

Sometimes it is necessary to re-evaluate what you believe and why you believe it in regards to what you have been taught about massage therapy. Ultimately, doing so is for the best therapy you can provide for your clients.

Take a look at this page recently written, then have a look at the YouTube video on the page. (just in case the video box is not working, there are a few clickable links to get you to the video if need be-sorry for any technical malfunction). It is a bit of a long video, but worth the viewing.

Also, Hope you all are marketing gift certificates during this holiday time. I have found in past years gift certificates for massage will end up getting you at least one or two additional regular clients over the next year.

Nov 13, 2009, Commentor to "Stunned & Shaken" post Adds a Very Interesting Comment

If you remember back to sometime in February of this year, we had a very shaken male massage therapist tell us about his very scary time of being fasely accused by a female client at the therapy establishment at which he worked.

Now we have a new commentor to his post who gives us a number of resources to understand what we all as male therapists could be dealing with if the wrong client rolls onto your table and decides you are the target of their mental health issues.

Well here is one like never before seen on the Male Massage Therapist website.

We all know the usual beefs against male therapists. Here is one I never saw coming. And frankly, I do not know how to respond. I mean, this is a whopper!

Maybe you all can give Jeremy a little advice here, or maybe you will just decide to drop it like a hot potato.

Either way, this is a well written submission and worth the long read (so long it is in two parts).
