Jul 2, Mystery Male Therapist From England Gives Us The Full Story.

We now know a bit more about our male massage therapist from across the great pond, "Paul". It seems Paul does have a full name--Paul Ledbrook. And Paul does have a website which he states is currently getting a make-over.

Actually, Paul, your current website is not all that bad. You have some good content. Just get a phone number on there and drop the purple background. I don't know how purple is percieved in the UK, but here in the US, purple is often associated with Gay businesses. If that's your market, fine, then go with it, but I don't believe it is after reading your site.

Paul's listing in the Male Massage Therapist Directory has now been updated with all his new information, and links to both his website and his new email address.

Take a look at the link below, and get in contact with Paul Ledbrook if you are looking for a massage in Northampton.

We hope to hear more massage story contributions over the months to come, Paul. Thanks for contributing so far!

Jun 22, Correction to Paul's Listing in the Male Massage Therapist Directory

My recent SiteBuildit! website analytics tell me how people find The Male Massage Therapist and what keywords are used when the web surfer uses a search engine to find it. This month there have been a great number of hits to this site using some sort of combination of of the keywords male massage therapist and England or U.K.

The directory's only listing for a male therapist in the U.K. is our mystery contributor, Paul (who still hasnt given us a last name yet). Unfortunately, I dont believe Paul has been getting the calls (well, email messages because Paul still hasnt supplied us with a telephone number either!) because I made an html code error on his page which was improperly compiling his correct email link.

Sorry Paul. Now that email link has been corrected, so I invited any potential client (apparently there were six this month) out their looking for a male massage therapist in the Northants, England to send Paul a message to set up an appointment.

As I side note, I generally do not publish email addresses of anyone submitting a listing to the Male Massage Therapist Directory unless the submitting therapist doesnt provide any other way to contact him or his office. Email addresses in-content on a website always invite spam. If email is the only way to contact a therapist, I try to insert code to create a pop-up box to send the email, so spamming spiders or robots will not see the actual email address.

My best suggestion is to always include either your business telephone number, or a link to your website as a way for a potential massage client to find a male therapist.

No Website, yet? Now youre totally missing the boat to finding new clients for your practice

Paul utilizes a very interesting (and perhaps controversial) technique to protect himself against false accusations during massage sessions.

Be sure to read the comments at the end of the story (and possibly add your own).

Mar 16, No Male Massage Therapist Listing ? What are you waiting for?

One reason I use the SiteBuildit! System to build and host all my websites is because it gives me the very easy ability to see how people found this website and what keywords they typed into a search engine to find a certain page on the site. It's a really great feature.

With that feature, I've learned there are a great number of potential clients out there on the web searching for male massage therapists in different cities. As of this date, there are only five male massage therapists who have added a listng to the Male Massage Therapist Directory. I've modified all of the listings to include the cities in which each of these therapists practices. Right now the cities Milwaukee WI, Melbourne FL, Wauna WA, Freemont CA and Pensacola FL are all showing up as keywords linked with the keyword "Male Massage Therapist" as ways people have found the website.

My point is: People are looking for massages offered by male therapists! If you've come by this site before and still haven't added a lisitng to the Male Massage Therapist Directory, all I can say is that you are either a fully-booked male therapist with no need for more appointments or...... you're just plain missing the boat! Make a listng now, and submit it. Be sure to include some type of contact information or a link to your website. Download a photo! This is the kind of stuff that will get you the call!

Lastly, if you know another male massage therapist, tell them about this site and suggest to them to submit a listing, and do forget to suggest to have them subscribe to an RSS feed for updates.

Mar 13, Please: Submit Only Your Own Male Massage Therapist Listing

I recently had an incident where someone submitted a listing to the Male Massage Therapist Directory who was not, in fact, the male massage therapist therapist listed in the listing. Eventually, this therapist found a listing with his name in the directory, and he contacted me to have the listing removed.

This took a little foot work and time on my part to find out who was really who, but when I finallly got the story straight, I removed the listing.

So please, while you may think it is a nice gesture to submit a listing on behalf of a fellow male massage therapist, don't do it. They may not actually care to be listed on the internet.

Mar 9, BFOQ Legal Ways to Deny Male Massage Therapists Employment

If you are a male massage therapist who has previously applied for a massage therapist job offering, only to be turned down, you may have been told something like, "We're only looking for a female therapist right now."

The gut feeling response you feel can be sickening.

You might even ask the potential massage job employer "why?", only to get a statement back something like this: "Hey, you're probably a good therapist. Heck, you're probably a great therapist. But truth of the matter is we had a male therapist last year here for massages. Almost none of our clients wanted a massage from a male therapist. He sat around a lot. We lost a lot of business. We're just not going to hire a male massage therapist anymore. It's not our personal choice. It's ultimately our clients' choice which has forced us to make this decision."

You may ask yourself, "Is this even legal ? Do I have a legal case here ?" Before you get "sue happy", understand what the potential employer has tried to cite as to his denial for employment against you: a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ).
A BFOQ is a legal way to deny someone employment using qualifications which are commonly considered illegal or discriminatory.

I found a great discussion on BFOQ's regarding using a home health nurse service in which the client would only accept a male nurse for services for their son. It's a long spirited discussion with input from what appears as some well-versed posters about the subject matter. While the discussion particularly relates to male nurses, the it goes on to other healthcare disciplines where males might be discriminated against because of their sex. There is even one reference which exactly relates to a male MASSAGE therapist being denied some clients at a Marriot hotel based upon clients' preferences--a case which didn't seem to go well for Marriot.

Be forewarned: This is a long discussion and can be a bit technically in-depth, but I think it is very germane to the issues facing male massage therapists seeking employment.

Feb 17, Please Add Contact Information to The Male Massage Therapist Directory

Thank you to all of the male massage therapists out there who have submitted a listing to the Male Massage Therapist Directory!

Unfortunately, I've had a number of listings recently submitted in which the therapist did a great job of promotong himself or his massage practice, only to leave out a way for a potential client to contact him (i.e. no telephone number, website link, or practice address).

Not trying to sound sarcastic here, but it's kinda pointless to be listed in the directory if no one can find you, don't you think? Luckily, when anyone makes a Content 2.0 submission, I can see their e-mail address with the submission so I can e-mail them back and ask for the information. This works, but it defeats the purpose of an automated system, and slows down the webpage posting of your listng.

And a note about e-mail adresses: Unless you specifically ask that your e-mail address be posted, I do not post e-mail addresses as a matter of policy.

When e-mail addresses are listed on a webpage, bad "spiders" may come by, crawl the page then pick up your e-mail address. Next thing you know, your address is being sold off to the Russian Mafia, and your e-mail account will be full of Viagra advertisments.

Be safe. Don't post your e-mail address. Just your telephone number and a link to your website. Thanks!
