Finished first quarter Massage Therapy School(4.0)/3 more to go for the diploma..then on to state certification.
We are permitted in Ohio at this point to give Relaxation Massage and I start clinics next month.
I have posted a few ads and I am beginning to see that I need some help in how to attract REAL customers to a male (56)very happily married Massage Therapist.
I absolutely love working on the body, male or female, makes no difference to me, but the men so far have been looking for things I am not inclined to give and I have had not one woman respond.
Any tips from you guys that have paved the way?
I am in Ohio.
Thanks

go for it by: billy
Hi there
Usually i dont answer these questions, but I wanted to on yours.
First of all, go for massage therapy if you truelly want it. I have been in business for 12 years and it has been a job that has more rewards then anything. All you have to do is believe in yourself and you will succeed. Gender now a days has little to do with it. The men in the field have paved most of the way for you.
Second. being married, well I have been married for 12 years as well. As long as you are being ethical, and professional there should be no worries from your wife.
I do recommend also like someone else make sure your back is ok. Massage is a physical and demanding job at times.
Good luck and hope you join the field.

Oh my, where do I start with you?
Two things you must do first and foremost before heading to massage school:
1) Determine why do you want to become a massage therapist? and
2) Make certain none of your intentions are directed towards meeting new or other females (yes, I know you're married & LOVE your wife), your emotions can wander causing you to stray.
You must also consult with your physician to determine if your sore back will pose a future problem in your being in the massage industry.
What does "being a man" issue have to do with providing massage to people? There are MANY heterosexual men who are massage therapists, such as myself and I have been one for 23 years now.
